With over seventy years having passed since the end of World War II, the sheer volume of historical research is staggering. Most of the publications have tended to focus on Hitler and the war in Europe. While the number of published works on the Pacific war is not as extensive, the Pacific campaign was infinitely more complex. American military personnel were involved in incredibly savage fighting as part of the island-hopping campaign against the Japanese empire. The book lists below are loosely divided into general themes with individual books in no particular order. If a book is on the list, it is worth reading.
